How to batch rip your CD collection using the PowerFile CD Changer
- Load CDs into the Powerfile.
- Push the "Load" button twice so that the display reads "Please Load Discs"
- Load up to 200 cds, with the label on the right-hand side
- When done loading, press the "Load" button once more so that the display reads "Please Load Disc". Press the "Load" button once more, and after a pause, the device door should close and return you to the main display.
- Open the appropriate Remote Desktop Connection client for your operating system
- Windows: Start Menu --> All Programs Accessories --> Remote Desktop Connection
- OS X: Download the OS X client here.
- Unix/Other: See here for more information.
- Connection Information:
- Server: jenkem
- Username: ripper
- Password: ps1frocks
- If they come up, dismiss any warnings about not being able to identify the identity of the remote computer.
- Double-click the "set email" batch file on the desktop and type your email address. You will receive results of the rip to this address upon completion.
- IMPORTANT:You will be presented with the desktop. Right click on "My Computer" and mount the network drive where you want to store your ripped files, as there is very little space on the server. Because the removable storage service has to be shut off for the system to work, USB or Firewire drives do not work.
- Double-click on the "CDGrab" shortcut.
- In the lower-left-hand corner change "Path" to that of your USB device or network drive.
- In the lower-right-hand corner, adjust your encoder settings to suit your choices. I generally rip at MP3, CBR, at 192kbps.
- The system is set to "Secure Rip" by default which corrects errors, but results in a slower rip. If you're pressed for time, disable this.
- Next to "Store Results", click "Set" and navigate to your USB device or network drive.
- Close "dBpoweramp CD Ripper"
- Double-click on the "dBPoweramp Batch Ripper" shortcut.
- Click the "Rip" icon in the upper-left-hand corner
- In the dialog box that opens, click "Populate", followed by "Ok"
- WAIT. The system will show you the progress of ripping. The process may take quite some time. Work on something else.
- Eject the CDs
- Push the "Eject" button on the PowerFile three times until the display reads "Please remove discs". It will eject CDs one at a time. Note that any CDs still mounted in the drives will not be ejected.
- Repeat the above steps for batches of up to 200 CDs until finished.
- Close the "dBPoweramp Batch Ripper" program.
- Log out from Jenkem.
