Capabilities
This is a tool grinder; it's not intended for general purpose grinding like pedestal or bench grinders. An aluminum oxide (white) wheel is mounted. It's relatively expensive and is consumed faster than the grey aluminum oxide wheels on a pedestal grinder. Therefore, only tool bits made of steel are permitted.
Adjusting the table is super easy and super useful.
Safety
While we have wheels made from other materials, they're for carbide and are not mounted. Until we have solid dust collection, carbide grinding is a significant dust hazard and is not allowed.
Materials other than steel on the white wheel can cause dangerous wheel loading.
The wheels are designed for grinding on the flat only. For a hollow grind, it's actually notably cheaper to use a normal pedestal grinder.
Todo
A miter fence exists, but it's a hack. One that's a protractor and has a thumb screw would be nice.
