Background

The Small Metals area is seeking $8000 for the next fiscal year (FY 2017-18). Since this is a new area, the 2017 budget will cover non-recurring infrastructure expenses and basic equipment purchases in addition to routine maintenance and consumables.

Small Metals, as it is such a new area, there is no historic data which could be helpful for 2017 budgeting.

Furniture & infrastructure: $2500

• benches & stools
• cabinets/ shelving
• commercial stainless sink
• ventilation

Major equipment: $3500

• burnout kiln
• hydraulic press & tooling
• 2 additional air-acetylene torches
• wet/dry belt sander

Additional tools & supplies: $2000

• Forming hammers & stakes
• wax carving tools & supplies
• consumables such as:
  • sand paper
  • copper sheet & wire
  • solder

Language

Authorize the board to spend up to $8000 to cover Small Metals Area expenditures for the fiscal year of 2017. The board may assign this spending authority to the area host. This spending authorization goes into effect 2017-01-01 and expires 2017-12-31.
