Background
The goal of this vote is to simplify the member points system.
When member points were migrated from the Bylaws to a policy in 20141(https://wiki.pumpingstationone.org/Membership_Rewards_Points_Vote) they were viewed as a way to thank members with an upgrade of storage for one month. We want to streamline delivery of member points, so that we might show members that we are grateful for their help .
On Board approval of a member point, a member's renewal payment date will be extended by one month.

The following text of the Pumping Station One Member Points Policy describing points:
- Member Points are valued at the difference between Full Member and Starving Hacker monthly dues rate.
Things Member Points can be redeemed for
- Status increase - Get 1 month of Full Member status for the price of a Starving Hacker membership.
Proposed Amended Language
The Member Points Policy shall be amended to read as follows:
- Member Points have no inherent monetary value. On Board approval, a member's renewal payment date is extended by one month.
Current Policy
The following text is the Pumping Station One Member Points Policy:
- Member Points are awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Points have no cash value, and they expire 12 months after issuance.
- Points may be transferred from member to member.

- Points in such a fund may be transferred to a member at the boards discretion.
- To request a point for yourself or another member, you must contact the Board of Directors.
- To spend or transfer a point, you must contact the Board of Directors.
Proposed Policy Changes
The Member Points Policy shall be amended to read as follows:
- Member Points are awarded at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
- Points have no cash value.
- To request a point for yourself or another member, you must contact the Board of Directors through the requested method of application. This will be announced and posted to the wiki. Current Member Point Redemption Policy
The following text is the Pumping Station One Member Points Redemption Policy:
Redeem Member Points
- send a request to redeem member points to [email protected]
- in the title of your email type "redeeming a member point"
- in your request specify if you would like to get a discount on your membership, transfer a point to someone else, or donate a point to the PS1 scholarship fund
- member points expire in one year, so use them!
