Vote Announcement and Beginning Date of the Discussion Period

Language Lock Date and Start of Voting

Five days prior to the Day of the Vote, the vote language is locked, all edits are frozen, and the language of the vote is converted to a pdf file. Ballots that include the pdf are sent to the Membership, and electronic voting begins. Note that the minimum discussion period of seven days leaves only two days for changes before the lock takes place.

Background

Film photography is gaining popularity among people that enjoy the process of making a photograph, it offers many aesthetic advantages to digital photography and appeals to the 'maker' in some of us. It is difficult for PS1 to support film photography because of the need to provide a darkroom and equipment to support the traditional film process. However if we support a workflow that includes traditional film development, high quality scanning of the negatives to a digital file and photo quality printing, PS1 could support film photography without a darkroom. We have a good photo quality printer, B&W film developing could be supported with a light proof desktop tent and <$400 of equipment. Synopsis

Authorize the PS1 board to spend up to $6500 on a drum scanner and supporting equipment.

Language of the Vote

Authorize the BoD to spend $6,500 from discretionary funds on acquiring a Drum Scanner.

This authorization shall expire at midnight on December 31, 2021.
