Pumping Station: One - A Hacker Space in progress.
What We Do
Pumping Station: One, NFP is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding section of any future United States Internal Revenue law). Its mission is to foster a collaborative environment wherein people can explore and create intersections between technology, science, art, and culture.
This is the statement of purpose as outlined in our Bylaws
What We Are Planning
Now planning space design! WorkPlan
We want to create a collaborative environment for people to explore the intersections between technology, art and culture. We feel the best way to do this is to establish a hacker space similar to others such as the Cowtown Computer Congress, NYC Resistor, NoiseBridge, HACDC, and other groups around the country.
We also hope to provide a community resource by hosting classes on electronics, programming, crafts, and any other skill that members or others are willing to provide. We want to make learning and creating fun!
See what kind of stuff we are looking for in the wishlist.
See a running list of possible locations, and add your own, on the possible locations page.
Join Us!
Now is your chance to become a founding member of Pumping Station: One!
Membership costs $50 per month. You can bring a check or cash to one of our Meetings, or pay online through our Google Checkout. There is a $1.50 fee to use Google Checkout, but that merely covers the fee that Google Checkout is charging us.
Membership will give you 24/7 access to our hackerspace once it does open. Until then, it gives you the right to vote on the decisions that the organization makes, the right to run for office in the election on January 27, and the opportunity to help us raise the cash reserves necessary to move into a space as soon as possible!
If you can afford to give more than the $50 monthly fee, we are also collecting donations. These, like the membership fees, will go toward raising the cash reserves that we need to move into a space.
