Quarterly Cleanup

Purpose

The purpose of the quarterly cleanup is to maintain PS:One facilities and areas. It is especially suited to accomplish tasks that require several people or disrupt normal operating conditions. One of the main goals is to elevate the standard quality of the spaces at PS:One and to prevent/deter decay of communal space and equipment from repeated daily use.

Guidelines

Area hosts involved in the Quarterly Cleanup, should consider shutting down their respective areas for an afternoon from 12pm-6pm. Area hosts should ticket offending materials and projects at least 3 days prior to the event, to comply with Tidy Space policy, and for maximum cleaning power. An announcement of the cleanup will be made at least 1 week in advance of the event, to attract volunteers, as well as advise members that the space will be unusable during the cleanup. Food and beverage will be provided for volunteers as the General Area host allows(cookout/pizza?). Recommended minimum volunteer contribution 1 hour.

Task List

People interested in cleaning up PS:One should add tasks that need to be completed to the area lists below. These list may be better suited for an app like Trello (PS:One's Trello doesn't exist anymore?).

General Area

Recurring Tasks

• Move items in the Wut Zone to Limbo
• Throw out / Recycle Limbo items.
• Dust the top of the dust collections pipes
• Empty the dust collector bins and clean the filter stack by connecting a vacuum to the cleanout port.
• Audit member shelves.

Non-Recurring Tasks

• Paint the back stairwell railings, main doorways.
• Fix the Tardis
• Fix the ventilation fan in the shop that doesn't spin up.
• Replace the orange table in the middle of the shop (it's becoming unstable)
• Tidy Space stuff under the orange table
• Replace dust collector impeller shroud clips as they all have hairline fractures
• Make a dust cover for the SEM (Craft help?)

CNC Area

Recurring Tasks

• Grease Shopbot rails
• Clean underneath and around Shopbot
• Remove ticketed materials from
  • under the Shopbot
  • under the Shapeoko
• Organize vinyl

Non-Recurring Tasks

• Move laser desk perpendicular to the kitchen wall, behind the flammables cabinet.
• Move Shapeoko desk and computer perpendicular to the long kitchen wall just outside the kitchen opening on the laser side of the shop.
• Move all 3D printers along the wall parallel to Elston Ave
• Build a rack for printer and vinyl cutter and place along the wall perpendicular to Elston Ave
• Build a spool rack that holds all filament spools above the 3D printers.
• Replace Shopbot table top.

Hot Metals Area

Non-Recurring Tasks

• Flip middle limbo wall to create storage for Hot Metals.
• Exhaust gas ventilation to outside.

Cold Metals Area

Recurring Tasks

• Lubricate the manual Bridgeport milling machine head.
• Grease Doall bandsaw (1 zerk under big metal cover).
• Grease Johnson bandsaw (2 zerks on pivot shaft).

Wood Shop Area

Non-Recurring Tasks

• Add dust collection drop for new planer. May need to order elbows, 6" blast gate, 6" flanges.
• Add floor sweep inlet for the dust collector

Kitchen Area

Non-Recurring Tasks

• Add sliding door to kitchen (check fire codes)
• Seal gap between catwalk and wall.
