Just a comment on the miter saw/chop saw: My experience has been that the little dust port behind the blade looks nice but doesn't actually catch the dust, which tends to fly off to the sides. I ended up building a "box" behind the saw to catch the dust. A google search turns up many examples. But this means that nothing can be behind it on the other side of the bench. - What is being done about metal shop dust collection? This looked like a very thorough list but only for the wood tools. I noted that the language said that a second system is needed for metal; does it make more sense to incorporate both and/or buy a dual system (it sounds like the latter isn't advisable)?

- Typically the debris generated in metalworking operations does not stay suspended - it falls right to the floor. You don't want to combine a metal dust collection system and a wood dust collection system, anyway (because it'll totally explode!). More pressing is fume extraction for hot metals, and I think Tom has a plan for that. --Dbever (talk) 16:55, 23 May 2014 (CDT)
