This is a 2021 initiative to show what the operational status of tools & machines in each area are on active displays.

This is a way for members to see if a tool is functioning without reading through Slack or Discourse along with being able to see if a tool is functional before traveling to PS1.

If you wish to just check the major tools of all areas or if you need to change the status of a tool you can visit Tool & Machine Master List

PS1 Tool Status

What is this? This is a series of displays located in areas of PS1 that show the current status of tools & machines in that area. It is setup to show if a tool is broken and under maintenance or if it is operating normally. What it isn't is a way to report problems to Area Hosts or other volunteers as the incident report, maintenance request, or contact through comms channels are still required as a priority. If a status needs changed make sure the reporting happens first before changing the status.

Editing & Changing the list

For Area Hosts and volunteers adding tools do not go below the black line on a areas tab in the master list. Copy over the formatting to a new series of columns and continue adding.

You will then need to do to the specific area link if you have added new columns and edit the import command of the first cell to change the range of imported cells. DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES.

Example: =IMPORTRANGE("htps://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Ga57b0Qg0sdayNVl1ef221UgdQDkC620cXkKHe2-5iU/edit#gid=0","Woodshop!A1:F50") in the !A1:F50 section you would need to change the F to a M or whatever your new last column was.

Thank you to Ron and the team.

PS we’re already looking at expansions involving the RFID control on tools and linking a user status to show what tools are in active use.
