Background

The lease for the adjacent building has been signed and the full members have selected by survey (at the time of this vote) one of three plans proposed by the space committee. This vote will allocate the money to buildout the new space and modify the existing space as indicated below.

• HVAC
  • Install AC in new lounge.
  • Install a 4" ventilation duct and fan in the clean CNC room to be used by the laser. The roof perforation will be done by a professional roofer. Interior ducting can be done by volunteers. Makeup air? Materials: ducting, elbows, hangers.
  • Install ventilation duct and fan for the kitchen. Use the duct currently used by the laser.
  • Install ventilation duct and fan for small metals (jewelry).
  • [for plan 1,2] Move dust collection system for woodworking. Materials: ducting, elbows, wyes, hangers blast gates. Purchase new filter for the Jet collector to aid with the transition to the new system.
  • Extend ventilation duct and add hood for hot metals.

• Electrical
  • [all plans] Install new power outlets for cold metals and hot metals. Materials: conduit, wire, outlets.
  • [plans 1,2] Install 2 240v power outlets for woodworking.

• Plumbing
  • Install work sink on the wall adjacent to the kitchen, next to the sliding fire door. Materials: sink, misc. plumbing.
  • Install work sink at the top of the stairs next to upstairs bathroom.
  • Remove old sink in new lounge.

• Install a partition between the Elston and alley sides of the new space.

• Obtain necessary permits if they are deemed appropriate.

• Remove temporary partition in new lounge. Paint and repair drywall if necessary. Materials: paint.

• Move equipment to new locations.

• [for plan 1,2] Clean dust from trusses, walls, etc. in old shop. {we may want to hire this out}

• Remove tool cage walls.

• Purchase and install shelving for member storage.

• Benches for general work area.

• Compressed air for new shop. {Run tubing from old shop? Or get additional compressor? Also need air for laser/ CNC?}

This vote assumes that these tasks will be performed by the landlord before we move in:

• Paint the walls.
• Fix roof leaks.
• Upgrade the lighting.
• Repair the air conditioning system.

Language

We authorize the board to spend up to $xxxx for tools, materials, supplies and services to buildout plan X.

We also authorize the board to select a project manager who will create a plan, track expenses, organize volunteers and hire contractors. The project manager will provide periodic reports to the board. The project manager will consult with the membership, area hosts, board and space planning committee when appropriate.

The funding for this vote will expire at the end of 2016.
