Background
PS1 is a great place to hold meetings or presentations. The ability to project information is a critical part of many events at PS1.
I'm proposing that we purchase new high lumen projectors for the lounge and Electronics along with specialized wireless casting devices, as these are the two most popular areas to hold meetings in. A high lumen projector will reduce or eliminate the need to turn lighting off and provide improved visual clarity and color. The casting devices will eliminate the majority of fussing with AV cables or needing adapters.
The projector in the lounge is especially an issue, since it has a tendency to flicker badly during open house meetings.
The specific projector I have investigated is the InFocus IN3148HD as seen here - https://www.techsoup.org/products/--HW-50779-- - It is a 5000 lumen projector and should be bright enough even in daylight with all the lights on.
The casting devices are Screenbeam 960 wireless display receivers that works with Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. You could also probably get it working with Linux using https://github.com/albfan/miraclecast since it utilizes Miracast. The biggest advantage of this device over a Chromecast is that it supports native OS screen mirroring. This means on Windows 10 you can just hit Ctrl+K and connect without wifi, and on OSX you can select it as an AirPlay device. More details can be found here - https://www.screenbeam.com/products/screenbeam-960/. We will still have legacy connections available for devices that for whatever reason may not support this. I have deployed Screenbeam brand devices in corporate environments and found them to be pretty reliable.
I have already obtained a quote for this from our vendor CCB Technology totaling $2609.51.
