The main purpose of this vote is twofold: take advantage of space that became available during the space expansion and reinstate the expired kitchen renovation budget with some modifications. One space issue that has become evident is the disconnect between the kitchen and the lounge, so this vote seeks to provide options for the membership to decide if the Kitchen Area should move over to occupy what was once slotted to be the small metals area. This area is now officially general area space, and is now being occupied by cold metals, and both areas are in agreement with the possible move.

Benefits of Plan A over Plan B

  • More convenient access from kitchen area to all other departments.
  • Ability to host more people in the lounge for events if the food is fully accessible in the kitchen.
  • Beer church and all of it’s equipment can remain where it is currently stationed.
  • The linens and dishes cabinet will be located more conveniently by the sink.
  • Noise buffering between the lounge and general shop area.
  • General area in the shop becomes contiguous.

Complications

An extra wall, ceiling, and doorway (1.5 doorway like those leading out of the foyer) will have to be installed and the view from one end of the building to the other will change.

Cold metals will have to shift equipment (for which there is support in the cold metals area).
