Background
Our current planer is loud and belongs to a member, not to PS1.
It's also useful. Let's get a better planer that's also less disruptive to our community.
Helical, carbide heads have been described as "quiet enough to have a conversation next to". Given that the head uses indexed carbide inserts, that also means that a ruined cutting surface is quick and easy to replace.
An extra $750 over the roughly $3000 cost is included to cover electrical if it needs to be run, extra inserts, shipping, and unpredictables.

Language
We authorize the board to spend up to $3750 on acquiring a new planer.
The planer should use carbide inserts.
