It may be that the cord on his machine is wired oddly and this is the correct arrangement. I suggest that the machine not be used until the wiring is verified as correct. I'm putting a note on the plug as well. If I have time I will look into it tomorrow.

I was the person who wired it. I believe it is correct. Check the manual, linked in the wiki page.
It is a weird beast that can accept single or three phase power, and multiple voltages. It auto detects. And white is NOT neutral. It doesn't have a neutral. You wire white and black for split phase 240V and leave red disconnected. For three phase, you wire white, black, and red. Green always goes to ground in both cases.
