While budgeting for 2022, we attempted to keep the budget light. It was difficult to predict our finances having reached a low point in income during COVID's peak. The original 2022 budget was crafted under the conservative assumption that we would not be regularly gaining back the membership numbers that we lost through the previous years. Fortunately, our membership is climbing and our finances are in a better place than expected. We are no longer expecting the loss we predicted based on previous years numbers. With the flexibility afforded by that, we are hoping to ensure all areas receive the funding they need to finish this year out with the appropriate resources. It is our goal to provide areas the ability to flourish rather than limping along.

Background

The main reason for bringing this vote to the membership is the Hot Metals area. Due to higher cost of area maintenance Hot Metals is in need of immediate funds in order to continue functioning through the end of the year. (yes it’s that bad)

After talking to other areas with a low remaining budget we have derived a list of areas that could benefit from additional support.

  • Hot Metals
  • Graphic Arts and Textiles
  • 3D Printing
  • Specialty 3D Printing
  • Electronics

Accounting

Grant each listed area above an additional $1,200 to their 2022 budget.
