Background

While budgeting for 2022, we attempted to keep the budget light. It was difficult to predict our finances, having reached a low point in income during COVID's peak that was only tentatively recovering as we observed our membership begin to return. Fortunately, our finances are in a better place than expected, and we are looking likely to bring in some conservative amount rather than the 20K loss we had predicted based on last years numbers. With the flexibility afforded by that, we are hoping to ensure all areas receive the funding that they need to finish this year out with with the appropriate resources provided for areas to flourish rather than limping along.

• Hot metals expects to spend up to $1,200 on supplies (gas, other consumables) and any repairs that may be necessary until the end of the year. A lot of unexpected expenditures occurred in attempting to bring the CNC plasma cutter back online. [The current plasma cutter is properly dead [RIP] please look out for a plasma cutter vote in the near future].

• Graphic Arts and Textiles expects to spend up to $1,200 on general upkeep and supplies, a new airbrush set to replace our current malfunctioning set, and screen printing supplies

• 3D Printing Area expects to spend up to $1,200 on TBA

Accounting

No budget funds roll over into the following year, so if this money does not get spent, it will not be added to the 2023 budget.

Language

Authorize the Board to bequeath $1,200 to 3D Printing, Hot Metals, and Graphic Arts and Textiles as an addition to the existing 2022 Budget. These funds are to be spent by respective area hosts and their designated authorizers. This spending authorization goes into effect immediately after this vote passes and expires at 11:59PM on December 31st, 2022.
