Sooo... I have been out of town and not been paying attention to all things PS1 much lately, so excuse me if this has been brought up. I live one block from PS1. I have 2 kids. My wife is a full-time awesome mom. She babysits occasionally at home. This is always the old fashion childcare of just trust between parents and sitter. I only skimmed all the discussion and all the talk of insurance and molestation made me think twice about posting, but here it goes.
As an alternative to all thats been mentioned: My wife would love to take care of your kids while you are at PS1 for and little extra income for us. You would just drop them off at our house (one block from PS1).
--- Pluses: Close to PS1 and cheaper then any other option mentioned, less bureaucracy

Recently I attended two events that offered childcare. One had a formal co-op type of group, maybe? I dropped them a line to ask for more details. The have a child care committee and are organized about training committee members to help with childcare. This event was at a local school, and child care happened in one of the rooms of the school.
