This proposal addresses creating a space for the kitchen. This should help keep shop grime out of the kitchen area facilitating cleanliness. As with any area of the space users will be responsible for policing their messes(Tucker)

Beerchurch will stay where it is. One of the reasons there aren't specific cabinets in the wall plan is to allow the brewing and kitchen users to fill in as they need.  (Tucker)

== What about the ceiling? ==

We've gone over the ceiling a bunch- there's no good way to do it. (d34fish)
+
* A ceiling is not part of this proposal.

+
* A ceiling of some type can be installed, it won't be drywall and will probably be either be a drop ceiling or an extension of the catwalk.
* We can't make the ceiling legal height and still meet code (d34fish)
  −
* The lath board we'd need to hang the ceiling off the cinderblock wall would require us to completely repipe all of the plumbing that runs at the top under the catwalk (d34fish)

All this proposal does is put up partitions.  The actual bread and butter of rehabbing a kitchen isn't even on the table yet. (Hailey)

== Is this project really going to achieve the goal of a vaguely sanitary kitchen? ==
 +

* Based on what d34fish has stated, we have little hope of ever getting a legal ceiling. We have a catwalk above the kitchen, which is a source of dust and contamination. The plastic sheeting in place now is, potentially, a fire hazard and may not be sustainable. Therefore, is it worth several thousand dollars to have a kitchen that has walls without a ceiling? Is this substantially better than what we have now, and enough so to justify the cost? --[[User:RyanPierce|Ryan]]

 +
 +
== Will there be enough lighting in a closed off kitchen? ==
 +
 +
I don't remember lights in the budget.
 +
 +
* There are two track lights under the catwalk that will be in the kitchen area.  I still think it will be a bit dark in there.
 +
 +
== Ventilation ==
 +
 +
Do the walls themselves (without a ceiling) cause a ventilation issue?
 +
 +
* We are pretty sure they will not.  The walls will not completely enclose the space and will only be 8 or 10 feet high.  Before we put any type of ceiling on the kitchen, we will create an stove vent that will go through the building ceiling.
 +
 +
== Wall height ==
 +
 +
How high are the walls going to be?
 +
 +
* Eric said 8 or 10 feet high.  I think 10 foot walls would look best.
 +
 +
== Plumbing ==
 +
 +
Shouldn't we do the plumbing first before we have to knock out drywall to run a pipe?
 +
 +
* Apparently they want to attach the shop sink to one of the sides of the kitchen walls.  The pipe can be run from outside of the kitchen.  Eric does not feel that punching a hole in the drywall is much of a concern.  He also says the door will be large enough to bring in anything the kitchen will need.
