Even though PS1 is a building sized toolbox in itself, you probably want your own gear handy when you need it. Here's suggested kit, adapt for your own needs:
General
- Pencil
- Permanent marker (sharpies - fine and fat tip)
- Index cards / PostIts
- Notebook
- Tape Measure
- Memory stick (for using any CNC machine, including 3D printers, as well as the arts Adobe computer)
- Utility knife
- Adjustable wrench
- Socket and screwdriver kit (An interchangeable screwdriver with bits as well as a socket adapter)
- Tape - cellophane, packing, masking, duct
- Suggested
- Square (Speed square or combination)
- Magnetic dish for parts
Protection
- Eye protection (available at PS1 but is usually smudged/dirty)
- Ear protection
- Lightweight N95 mask
- Work gloves
Wood Shop
- Router bits
- Marking gauge
- 2-6" combination square (one english, one metric)
- 6" steel rule english/metric
- 1/4 - 1/2" brad point drill bits / 12mm brad point drill bits
- Screwdrivers:
- Screwdriver bits in various shapes
- Phillips head
- Standard head
- Mechanical pencils
- Roll of blue masking tape
- Roll of double-stick tape
- 6" digital caliper
- 6' / 2m tape measure
- More optional:
- 1/4 and 3/8 hollow chisel mortiser bits
- Collets (for Shopbot)
- A hat (to protect your head from getting bumped when inside the dust collection closet)

Electronics

Arts
- Airbrush media, there are paints and inks but made for airbrush media may prevent frustration
- Specialized sewing machine needles — universal needles are in supply so unusual material may need a different type of point, industrial or home machine type
- Colored special thread, there are a range of colors of multipurpose spools, if your project need a matching color or fiber type i.e. button hole thread of a color to match your fabric
