There is usually a Wood Shop authorization once a week, listed on the calendar. Generally, all you have to do is show up. You don't need to RSVP anywhere or sign up. IF there is a Google Groups discussion, it's cool to chime in and say you will be there if you will, in fact, be there ... the authorizer can know to look for you. IF you can determine who the authorizer is, you can say something to them in a direct message (reply from Google Groups directly to the poster) and that's likewise, a nice courtesy to start having any kind of direct communication with them. If you see them in person, exchange phone numbers or emails or something, again, as a courtesy in case plans change for anyone.

There is usually a Wood Shop authorization once a week, listed on the calendar. The process begins in a canvas course. Go to https://canvas.pumpingstationone.org/courses/40 and self enroll. There are readings on safety, processes rules and... of course... all of the stationary tools in the basic authorization.  Study the material and take the quizzes.

Come wearing appropriate clothing and grab a set of eye protection and ear protection when you arrive.  

Then book a hands on Authorization session in the Canvas Calendar.  Out of courtesy please email Ralph ([email protected], Paul (paulvanlake @gmail.com)  or Gary ([email protected])as appropriate for questions (to let us know that you are in the pipeline, questions, etc).

It's extremely likely that this authorization will meet every Thursday at alternately 6:30 or 7:00 pm ... in the Wood Shop  see the ps:1 google calendar.

If you pass both the online and the hands on portions....CONGRATULATIONS!! You are among the select club of PS:1 Woodworkers (no accompanying parties or awards or libations will necessarily follow.)

This green tag* (https://github.com/pumpingstationone/ps1-design/blob/master/export/green-parking-tag.pdf) should be placed on any item, project or materials used for personal or group projects, which are being actively worked and/or are too large to store in personal locker/shelf space. Items with a properly issued parking permit must not be left on a worktable or in a walkway. Items that are left with or without a Parking Permit may be moved to Temporary Storage by anyone at any time. Members are able to write their own ticket for parking, valid for a maximum of 72 hours unless an Area Host agrees to a longer period of time not exceeding 30 days. Members are able to renew Parking Permits themselves given that they are physically in at PS1 to do so. Area Hosts are able to limit renewals at their discretion if appropriate to maintain organization of Temporary Storage.
