This sounds like a project we should start when we have a space, so we have a place to put it. I suggest making or ordering metal dance pads and not using the soft ones. I have a soft pad for Pump It Up at home, and it sucks. It's hard to tell where the squares are, whereas on a metal dance pad your foot can feel whether it's on the sensor zone or not.

A group for building an arcade machine to run StepMania (an open source Dance Dance Revolution clone).

Project Notes

This sounds like a project we should start when we have a space, so we have a place to put it. I suggest making or ordering metal dance pads and not using the soft ones. I have a soft pad for Pump It Up at home, and it sucks. It's hard to tell where the squares are, whereas on a metal dance pad your foot can feel whether it's on the sensor zone or not.

There is information about making dance pads, and lots of links for how to make them, here.

I (Tom) actually own a metal Cobalt Flux pad that I haven't really used since moving to Chicagoland (since we're on the second floor, and don't want to drive the neighbors mad).
