This page describes the technical process that occurs when a member is banned.
How to process a ban
These steps should only be performed immediately after a person has been notified of their ban.
Wild Apricot
- Login to Wild Apricot
- Navigate to membership profile of individual to be banned
- Select the Membership tab and click Edit
- Switch Disabled to "Yes" and save
- This will override any other status settings and lock an individual out
- Switch Disabled to "Yes" and save
- On the Membership tab itself
- Next to Automatic recurring payments activated select "STOP" to stop payments
- This only applies if a member is paying via WA and has not been migrated to Stripe yet
- If you must do this, you do not need to follow the Stripe instructions
- This should be removed by the end of 2024
- Next to Membership select "Suspend" to suspend membership
- Next to Automatic recurring payments activated select "STOP" to stop payments
- Select the Email settings and log tab and click Edit
- Switch to "Disable ALL emails" and save
Stripe Subscription
- Login to Stripe
- Locate the individual's current subscription via email
- On the subscription page:
- Select "Actions"
- Click "Cancel Subscription"
- Ensure "Immediately" is selected, do not change any other options
- Press "Cancel Subscription"
- Individual will be notified immediately that their subscription has been cancelled
Discord Access
- Identify the individual in the Discord server
- Right click their username
- Select "Ban [username]"
- Enter reason as "banned member" or something appropriate but simple for audit purposes
- Select "Don't Delete Any" under Delete Message History
- Do NOT delete member messages unless directed by the DRC or by emergency order of the board. Messages should be retained for archival and investigative purposes.
- Click "Ban"
How to reverse a ban
Wild Apricot
- Login to Wild Apricot
- Navigate to membership profile of individual to be unbanned
- Select the Membership tab and click Edit
- Switch Disabled to "No" and save
- Select the Email settings and log tab and click Edit
- Switch to "Send emails per settings below"
- Ensure correct settings are enabled to receive emails
- Save
- Send individual a Stripe payment link if they intend to re-register as a member
Stripe Subscription
- No action is needed at this time
Discord Access
- Open Server Settings
- Navigate to "Bans"
- Click the individual you would like to unban
- Select "Revoke Ban"
- If the individual is rejoining, send a new Discord invite link
