Background
We currently have great CNC milling capabilities at PS1 (especially for wood and soft metals). To round out our capabilities we'd like to propose CNC cutting of large sheet metal and plate. Adding a CNC plasma cutting table would allow for high quality CNC cuts in thicker metals.
We expect the purchase of this machine to be made as soon as the machine is available and the setup to take place once the new space is available next door. Currently the proposal budgets for a 4’x4’ table with railings to be able to expand the machine to an 4’x8’.
A local business is looking to sell their current 4’x4’ Plasma CAM table including a Hypertherm 1000 plasma cutter for $5000. Specs can be found at http://www.plasmacam.com/machspecs.php . This is a fully working machine that would be ready to use after being re-assembled at PS1.
Other items to be purchased will include:
- Water table after initial purchase and setup of machine and extension of table to 8’x’4
- PC
- New slats
- Grounding Rod
- Ventilation
