Talk:Board Orientation
What is the "Annual Report" that is mentioned on this page? What's it for? Who/what do you send it to? Justin (talk) 23:12, 11 November 2014 (CST)
It's this, Justin: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/business_services/annual_reports/nfp_instructions.html --Toba (talk) 23:39, 11 November 2014 (CST)

Where are the patterns now that we don't use zoho.

- we should add an item about how to determine quorum.
annual report
The old info that was there was inaccurate since we didn't have a new address to amend. I think we should have an item about checking for current requirements with pro bono lawyers, or at least for checking for current requirements, and give a link for hte info.
handling private discussions
Late last year I experimented with creating a mailing list called private-help. I made it a bit too late last year to experiment with it properly by announcing it on the mailing list. Current board members may or may not want to try it out. mailman description:
This list provides a way for people to ask the board for private and confidential help. Anyone can post to this to ask for help with another member or a guest of the space.
This list only goes to board members. Archives are only viewable by board members.
Board members only: To see the collection of prior postings to the list, visit the private-help Archives. (The current archive is only available to the list members.)
- You should provide different channels for people to ask for help. Some people are more comfortable with starting a conversation in email.
- It is important to provide people a way to make requests to the board in a comfortable manner with a reasonable expectation of confidentiality and privacy. You currently don't have a way for members to contact all of the board to make a request, and this email address could provide that.
- It is important for the board to maintain confidentiality. Last year, information on the board only mailing list was shared outside the mailing list. Using a mailing list that is specifically about maintaining confidentiality will make it absolutely clear when a mailing list discussion has an expectation of privacy. Currently the mailing list is moderated by me and Jenny. If you want to keep the mailing list around, you may want to only make it available to a subset of people (one or two?) who can show discretion on what to share with the rest of the board on behalf of anyone who needs help.Speaking candidly, my trust was violated last year when I saw information being leaked from board discussions. That's why I didn't immediately add all of the board members to the list.in what information to share with the rest of the board on behalf of anyone who needs help.
Anyway, I suggest removing the list if it's not how people want to handle things, or keep it around and make sure to make it clear how emails to it are handled. Skm (talk) 13:21, 24 January 2016 (CST)
RT state transitions
I had trouble remembering which states to transitions tickets through, especially for anything involving treasuery. It may help to make a list of ticket types and transitions.
