Authorizations
If you have already been authorized and experienced with the smaller Epilog Mini laser, have familiarized yourself with the RDWorks software, understand the safety requirements for lasers, are somewhat familiar with Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, and the ai, dwg and dxf file formats, and understand the current procedures for starting the exhaust fan and compressed air sources for the Epilog, I have been and will be conducting limited number authorization sessions conducted. Email [email protected] for an appointment, until other authorizers also start taking appointments. Until the Boss is properly focused, results will be slightly less amazing than they could, but you can get a provisional authorization, meaning I will want you to check back in with me after your first few laser jobs to make sure you are competent and comfortable working with this new machine. You can also contact me about meeting my prerequisite requirements - they are my requirements, not everyone's, but if you meet them the authorization session can be efficient and thorough. - Ray D.
Settings
- Honeycomb vs. Aluminum Lamella : The honeycomb is used for engraving and pieces that benefit from precise leveling. Use the aluminum lamella (slats under honeycomb) for cutting through to reduce flashback and improve airflow (warning small pieces will fall through).
- 4" Lens Focus Depth 38.5mm (this is a just an approximate, FD calibration must be performed each time the lens is changed)
- 2" Lens Focus Depth 5.3mm (this is a just an approximate, FD calibration must be performed each time the lens is changed)
Procedures
Powering On Machine
- Release Emergency Stop button
- Turn power key
- Turn on Air Assist & Water Chiller switch & ensure both are functionion
Aligning Materials
- The table is not aligned with the laser's X-Y axis
- To align your material use the laser pointer by holding one axis constant while moving along the other axis to align corners of your material
