Background

There are two major machines required for the lost wax casting process.

• Investment table
  • Estimate ~$900 or less for used machine
• Wax Injector
  • New machine ~$400

The above linked items are examples of available (at the time of this writing) equipment to fill these roles, and are intended as a rough indicator of pricing and equipment configuration. Similar equipment may need to be located once this vote passes.

Also needed to bootstrap our casting abilities would be mold-making supplies:

• Silicone rubber
  • ~$120
• Plaster Investment
  • ~$35

Total for materials and equipment: ~$1551.64

Shipping costs: ~$250 (wild estimate - there are freight costs involved)

Total with 10% buffer: $1959.69

Goals

Equip PS:1 with tools and supplies necessary for metal casting.

Language

Authorize the board to spend up to $1959.69 on equipment and materials for lost wax process metal casting.
