Product manual

Doorbell system was installed in August 2020 when the old analog bells both failed.

It is wireless and has chimes with strobe lights in:

  • Cold metals above desk outside the kitchen
  • Between hot metals and the woodshop

Loud enough to be heard in most of the building, though as of July 2025 it's unknown if it can be heard upstairs or in CNC laser/3D printing. We could add another unit up front for $50 if needed.

The model is no longer listed on Safeguard Supply's website, however it seems like all the LRA models are compatible with each other. The ringer has a wallwart power supply and 3 C cells for power. The door buttons use 2032 battery

The front door rings the Star Wars Or Indiana Jones Theme. The back rings Call to Post (racehorse start music). The sounds ring on both chimes simultaneously.

History

  • Feb 17, 2023 - Replaced front battery n reset chime unit in cold metals
  • July 3, 2025 - Front door button is missing, no idea for how long.
  • July 18, 2025:
    • Safeguard's site noted that all LRA gear is compatible with each other, so a new chime receiver and button transmitter were purchased.
    • A neat little project box for the front door got build with the new transmitter and an ESP32 to pick up the front doorbell press.
    • Apparently, after contacting Safeguard, our LRA gear is old and not compatible with newer LRA gear, so the new stuff won't pair with the old stuff. So much for that.
    • Safeguard also doesn't sell the old gear anymore. Womp womp.
    • Chime receiver in cold metals wasn't paired with the back door button transmitter.
    • Chime receiver in wood/metal shop was found unplugged with dead batteries.
    • Battery in transmitter button for the back door is dead.
    • Current state is nothing works.
