Member Leaving Report
The feedback on the member leaving report had:
- would like to have had more "How to use" instruction available for use of tools in the space beyond basic authorization
- Would like to have better a better way to find information. Information is scattered all over and they didn't know where to go to find out what they needed to know.
I can't remember the details about what the person would have liked to see on the wiki. I am curious what new members think about the wiki when they join. Is it useful? What would they like to see on the landing page? For members who have been here a while, what do they wish they knew when they started? I want some answers to those questions and then maybe we can have a better landing page for new members (or everyone). Skm (talk) 12:14, 29 July 2015 (CDT)
RE the first bullet point - all of our classes depend pretty heavily on volunteerism. I've thought about what a basic woodworking class would look like. It'd probably take a couple hours for a small group of people, unless someone better at woodworking than me has good ideas. --Dbever (talk) 13:23, 29 July 2015 (CDT)
Shouldn't this discussion happen on its own page? I think we could have a lot better documentation overall, and someone would have to spearhead a space documentation project. I know Andrew has been saying that he'd like to make a lot more signs for the CNC/Shopbot areas. When we visited i3, we were super impressed by their signage. Also, perhaps considering the creation of the Community Manager position should be a thing. --Sylphiae (talk) 13:58, 29 July 2015 (CDT)
+1 for a community manager position. I advocated for creation of a membership director position awhile back, I like this title better.Mskilton (talk) 16:31, 29 July 2015 (CDT)
