Talk:Vote to Get Cleaning Service
While generally I am not a fan of expirations on expenditure authorizations, as this is an ongoing service the language should include a 6-12 month expiry (and probably there should be some kind of reminder on the calendar) so that the membership can re-evaluate the service periodically. --Dbever (talk) 14:05, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- Considering it only takes a few days for the kitchen to become a revolting breeding ground for flies that smells of rotting biological liquid and food, It seems to me that having a cleaning service come in to clean it every two weeks is pissing in the wind. I also question whether this estimate would include cleaning something as filthy as the kitchen gets. $0.02. Jason (talk) 16:22, 12 August 2014 (UTC)
- I'd rather piss in the general direction of a fire than say "Well, that's it then" - if my meaning is clear. --Dbever (talk) 01:47, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- We're getting philosophical.
- I will wait for the written estimate like Skilton. I want to see how they allocated the costs. Jason (talk) 15:41, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- I will add 6-12 month expiry language and that we should have a calendar reminder. Would the quote they gave us be sufficient? I met with the owner in person and gave her a walk-through of the areas to clean. I'm not sure what else you want to see in a written estimate. Sylphiae (talk) 19:39, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- They're not hazmat or crime scene cleaners, so they will have some kind of policy on the level of filth they will clean and how long they will spend per visit. Jason (talk) 20:35, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- Why do we need hazmat or crime scene cleaners for the bathrooms and kitchen? They're not cleaning any part of the shop. The owner has already seen the space and how dirty it was. The quote was given to us after she saw the state of the space. In regards to how long they will clean, it is a minimum of 3 hours. I can ask specifically how long the maid will take, if you would like. Sylphiae (talk) 20:46, 15 August 2014 (UTC)

More Information Please
Have they submitted a proposal detailing the scope of work to be done? If they have please post it. If not they should. mskilton
Do they have employees? Do they use subcontractors? This will determine what I will need to see on a certificate of insurance. (Which we should request before any work is performed) mskilton
- I have a quote which also outlines what will be cleaned. They have employees that are insured, and I can request a certificate of insurance. Sylphiae (talk) 19:39, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- I was actually wrong on this point, she uses subcontractors. But she said that she will be doing the cleaning herself because we have expensive equipment, and she is insured. See email below:
- Jenny,
- I have subcontractors. I would be the only person providing service to your company because of the expensive equipment that you have. I’m insured and I can add you to my policy if needed.
- Regards
- Izabela

PS1 Financials
I feel like the membership is due a financial report. There has been a fair amount of off budget spending. Hard to support spending without knowing where we stand. mskilton
- I am not sure who you would have to contact to get this information. Sylphiae (talk) 19:39, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
- While I agree with skilton's sentiment, I consider life/safety/sanitation to be vital to the station's upkeep and maintenance. Buying new equipment for creative pursuits isn't as vital.--Bioguy (talk) 19:59, 15 August 2014 (UTC)
